Tarmacadam driveways are renown for being extremely durable and long lasting.

We are experts in installing tarmac driveways with the latest quality bitumen and making sure that the preparation of the driveway is firstly clean and free from organic matter to avoid the surface from developing cracks.

With minimal maintenance required and a tough exterior, tarmac is a popular material for driveway installations.

Over time, with constant usage and fluctuating weather conditions this can take a toll on the surface of the driveway.  So if cracks or potholes appear they can be repaired and even re-surfaced if necessary.

Tarmac is also commonly used for highly trafficked areas such as forecourts, car parks, school playgrounds and private roads.

Of all the different types of surfacing which can be used to construct a driveway, tarmacadam is considered the budget option, especially when compared to block paving, or pattern imprinted concrete.

However, whilst large areas can be economically resurfaced the cost of using tarmac for a small driveway can be comparable to the more aesthetically pleasing block paving.

Resurfacing

Resurfacing a driveway is the process of putting a new layer of tarmac over the existing layer, many properties can benefit from the fact that most existing tarmac and concrete drives can be overlaid with a new wearing course which means minimal disruption and fantastic cost advantages.

Reasons for tarmac sealing

As with all outdoor surfaces, over time the weather takes it's toll. Tarmacadam and asphalt surfaces are very vulnerable to the damaging effects of UV light from the sun. Over time the surface colour of the tarmac will fade eventually the aggregate will become loose after prolonged exposure to UV light. If left to deteriorate further, the tarmac or asphalt will eventually start to crack up in places and the whole tarmac driveway or car park might have to be replaced.  Applying a sealant can help protect the surface and enhance the colour of the driveway.

The wind and rain also plays a part in damaging any surface over long periods. Cracks and pot holes can be repaired and the driveway can be re-surfaced.
